Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy applies to the Luminest Android application developed by Mikael Tenshio.

Luminest is designed to help you browse, search, view, favorite, share, and organize photos and videos that are already available on your Android device.

2. Local Media Access

With your permission, Luminest reads local photos, videos, and related metadata through Android MediaStore so it can build the gallery, albums, explore collections, search results, viewer, storage details, and selection screens.

• Local media identifiers, content URIs, filenames, folders or album names, MIME types, dimensions, dates, durations, and file sizes
• Thumbnails and previews used to display media in the app interface
• Media rows available under full-library, image-only, video-only, or selected-media access depending on Android version and the permission you grant

Luminest does not upload your photos, videos, filenames, folders, search terms, favorites, or media details to a developer-operated server.

3. Information Stored Locally

Luminest stores app state locally on your device to provide its features. This may include:

• Onboarding state, permission reminders, selected tab, theme, grid density, browsing, viewer, privacy, storage, and app preferences
• Media identifiers for items you mark as favorites, hide during app use, or review in local app screens
• Temporary selection state, viewer state, and search state used while the app is open

Local app data remains tied to the Android device and app storage. The developer cannot view or restore this information.

4. No Remote Data Collection

Luminest does not request Android Internet permission and does not use a developer account system, cloud media library, cloud sync service, analytics SDK, advertising SDK, crash-reporting SDK, tracking SDK, or advertising ID permission.

The app is not designed to collect usage analytics, advertising identifiers, media libraries, or personal profiles for the developer.

5. Permissions and Device Features

Depending on Android version, Luminest may request these local media permissions:

• READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - local media access on Android 12 and earlier
• READ_MEDIA_IMAGES - image access on Android 13 and later
• READ_MEDIA_VIDEO - video access on Android 13 and later
• READ_MEDIA_VISUAL_USER_SELECTED - selected photo and video access on supported Android versions

Luminest does not request Internet, camera, microphone, contacts, precise location, SMS, call log, calendar, or advertising ID permissions.

6. Sharing and External Apps

When you choose to share media or open media with another app, Android passes the selected item to the destination you choose. That destination handles the content under its own terms and privacy practices.

Device manufacturers, operating systems, backup settings, gallery providers, file managers, cloud drives, and other apps may separately process media according to your device configuration outside Luminest.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Your photos and videos remain in Android-managed device storage until you delete, move, or change them through Android, Luminest where supported, or another app with appropriate access.

Luminest preferences and local app state remain until you change them, clear app storage, reset app data, or uninstall the app. Android system backup or device-transfer behavior may depend on your device settings and operating-system configuration.

8. Children's Privacy

Luminest is a general local gallery utility and is not directed to collecting information from children. The app does not require registration or remote submission of personal information.

If children or multiple people use the same device, the device owner is responsible for supervising media access and sharing choices.

9. Changes and Contact

This Privacy Policy may be updated when Luminest changes features, permissions, data handling, or legal requirements. The latest version will be made available on this page.
