1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy applies to the NutriVue mobile application, developed by Mikael Tenshio.
NutriVue helps users search for foods and recipes, browse categories and brands, view nutrition details, save favorites, and build a local shopping list.
NutriVue does not require account creation, registration, login, a name, an email address, or profile information.
2. Data Collection
NutriVue does not require account creation, registration, login, a name, an email address, or profile information. NutriVue does not use advertising SDKs or analytics services.
When you search for foods or recipes, browse categories or brands, or open nutrition details, the requested search terms and relevant food, recipe, category, or brand identifiers are transmitted securely over HTTPS to the NutriVue backend and the FatSecret Platform API.
This processing is necessary to retrieve the nutrition information requested by the user. NutriVue does not use this information for advertising or user profiling.
The current Android release does not include Google AdMob, Google Mobile Ads, Google User Messaging Platform, Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, external crash-reporting SDKs, or the Android Advertising ID permission.
3. Local Data
NutriVue stores the following information locally on the device:
- Favorite foods and recipes
- Shopping-list recipes and ingredients
- Manually added shopping-list items
- Application settings and preferences
- Temporary food, recipe, brand, image, and category caches
When updating from the previous NutriVue application, saved favorites and shopping-list records may be migrated from the previous local storage format.
Temporary FatSecret content is cached for no longer than 24 hours, except identifiers that FatSecret permits to be stored indefinitely.
NutriVue does not provide cloud sync, account sync, or a background backup feature. Depending on your Android backup settings, Android may back up or transfer locally saved shared preferences.
4. Permissions Used
NutriVue uses only the following Android permissions:
- Internet - To retrieve foods, recipes, brands, categories, images, and nutrition information from the NutriVue backend and FatSecret Platform API.
- Network state - To detect whether a network connection is available and provide appropriate loading, cached-data, and retry behavior.
NutriVue does not request access to the camera, location, contacts, messages, microphone, photos, media files, or Android Advertising ID.
6. Third-Party Services
NutriVue uses the following service providers:
- FatSecret Platform API - Provides food, recipe, image, category, brand, serving, and nutrition information.
- NutriVue backend proxy - Securely relays requests to FatSecret without embedding private API credentials in the Android application.
- Google Play and Android services - Distribute application updates and may provide device backup or transfer functionality when enabled by the user.
These providers may process limited technical request information required to provide their services.
FatSecret describes its Platform API as the source of food and nutrition content used by integrated applications.
7. No Advertising
NutriVue does not display advertisements. The application does not include Google AdMob or another advertising SDK, does not access the Android Advertising ID, and does not use personal information for personalized advertising or advertising measurement.
8. Diagnostics
NutriVue does not transmit analytics events or crash reports to an external analytics service.
If the application crashes, it may save the most recent technical crash report in private application storage on the device. This report may contain the Android version, device manufacturer and model, thread name, and application stack trace. It is not uploaded automatically and is deleted when application data is cleared or the application is uninstalled.
9. Rights, Deletion, and Retention
Users can delete locally stored NutriVue data by clearing the application's storage through Android settings or uninstalling the application.
Cached API and image data expires within 24 hours. Saved favorites, shopping-list records, manual items, and settings remain until the user removes them, clears application storage, or uninstalls the application.
Android OS backup or device transfer may retain saved preferences according to the user's device backup settings. Users can manage or delete those backups through their Android or Google backup settings.
Because NutriVue does not maintain user accounts, there is no developer-operated account profile to delete.
10. Children's Privacy
NutriVue is not directed toward children under the age of 13. NutriVue does not knowingly collect personal information from children or any other users.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when NutriVue's features, permissions, service providers, or data practices change. The effective date shown on this page will be updated when material revisions are made.
